Prescriptions
Write and track prescriptions for your patients.
The Prescriptions page is your clinic's prescription ledger: every medication prescribed, to whom, by whom, and its current status.
The prescription ledger
Writing a prescription
- Open Prescriptions and click New prescription.
- Pick the patient (by file number).
- Enter the medication, dose, and frequency (e.g. "Amoxicillin", "500 mg", "3× daily"), and optionally a duration and free-text notes.
- The prescriber defaults to you. Save.
Tracking
Each prescription has a status (e.g. active, completed, expired) you can update as treatment progresses. The search box at the top of the page filters the ledger by patient name, file number, medication, prescriber, or status — so pulling up everything a patient is currently taking is quick.
Who can prescribe
Doctors, members, admins, and owners can create and manage prescriptions. Reception cannot see prescriptions at all — they are clinical data. Pharmacy can review and update prescriptions (e.g. mark them completed) but cannot create or delete them. See Roles & permissions.
Pharmacy dashboard
Members with the Pharmacy role land on the Pharmacy page — a dispensing view over the same ledger:
- At a glance: active prescriptions, courses expiring within 7 days (computed from the duration), and how many patients are currently on medication.
- Dispensing queue: active prescriptions, oldest first, with the same search box. Courses nearing their end carry an Expiring badge.
- Mark completed: one click on a queue row closes out a dispensed course; clicking the row itself opens the full prescription detail.
Clinicians can also open the Pharmacy page for an oversight view of the queue.
Prescription changes are recorded in the activity log, giving you a full history of who prescribed what and when.
